105 Darjeeling Yashodhara FTGFOP1 1st Flush [HOME] All Customer ReviewsAverage Customer Review: Write an online review and share your thoughts with other customers. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Reviewer: A tea Drinker, Camarillo ,CA August 09, 2008 I brought the water to a roaring boil and used 1 level tsp per 6 oz. cup. The pkg. was specific about letting it steep for 2.5 to 3 minutes so I tasted it at 2.5 and again at 3. So why was it so disappointing? I've enjoyed so many of the black, green, and oolong teas. Maybe my taste buds just don't connect with darjeeling. **Response from SpecialTeas: Our sincere apologies -- we have recently revised the brewing tips for our 1st flush darjeelings to a kinder, more gentle water temperature of 195ºF. The changes took place very recently on our website, but the old labels will take longer to work their way out of circulation. Please see the web description of this tea for the revised brewing instructions. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Reviewer: A tea Drinker, Pembroke Pines ,FL October 15, 2007 I tried a sample of this tea and fell in love with it. Darjeeling really is the champagne of teas. The only bad part is the price. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Reviewer: A tea Drinker, los angeles, ca October 09, 2007 This was my first time drinking a first flush darjeeling and I'm afraid I'm unimpressed. I do not understand why this tea is supposed to be so great. There was not much aroma after opening the package. The taste was rather flat and unremarkable - not nearly as lively as I expected from a first flush. I mostly drink green and oolong tea. Not nearly as interesting as those styles I'm afraid. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Reviewer: Jane , Swart , Charlotte ,NC June 06, 2007 Oh my, this is lovely! The aroma as it was steeping was light and lemony. One of the more delicate and pleasant, yet not weak or lacking character, teas I've ever tasted. This will surely be added to my list of regulars. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Reviewer: A tea Drinker, Arlington,WA April 17, 2007 A nicely balanced light tea with much flavor. This tea has the nutty-muscatel characteristic found in a good Darjeeling combined with a floral accent. This is a tea that can be enjoyed for long periods without getting long in the tooth. One of the best I've had! ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Reviewer: A tea Drinker, SUDBURY ,MA July 15, 2006 Very nice! Jungpana has consistently produced excellent teas, and this one is no exception. Everything you want a good cup of Darjeeling to be. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Reviewer: A tea Drinker, Pittsburgh ,PA May 09, 2006 I'd had no exposure to Darjeelings outside of generic teabags, and I expected, well, you know, tea. Wow! It was complex, smooth, and unlike any other tea I've had. Strong vegetal/floral flavors, but maybe something like asparagus rather than the grassy note you get from many greens. Smooth and non-astringent, but still clearly a black tea. The sample ran out before I could identify all the things I was tasting, but it sure was good. I'll have to buy more of this while I sample some other Darjeelings for comparison. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Reviewer: A tea Drinker, washington ,DC April 12, 2006 Loved it. Works every time. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Reviewer: Scott , Olson , Springfield ,MA October 31, 2005 My first foray into single estate darjeeling - boy did I pick a winner! It's probably the most delicious tea I've ever tried, and now I'm addicted. I have certainly paid a lot more for fine tea, and gotten less (with regard to quality). ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Reviewer: Tapan, Puttabong has beautiful flavor and properly balanced liquer. One of the finest Darjeeling teas I have tried. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Reviewer: Tony, I got this as a sample and I just finished a cup. What I noticed first is the very nice green color of the dried leaf. Which took me for a surprise. The steeped cup was a nice golden color liquor and the taste was smooth and flowery very pleasing, but it was not the usual darjeeling flowery taste, it was more like an oolong, but even still more pleasing than an oolong (think ti kwan yin styles) I am thinking maybe a magnolia. I like this tea better than any oolong and would definately choose this over them. As for first flush darjeelings this is one of the best that I have tasted, if not one of the better teas that I have tasted. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Reviewer: Vinh, Enjoyable tea with pleasing balance between sweet notes and a satisfying astringency. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Reviewer: Paul, This is a floral, fragrant tea with more green leaves than expected. Brisk, bright taste and exceptional aftertaste make this tea worth the extra money. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Reviewer: Blackhorse, First taste notes: should have waited til afternoon, but couldn't. Bright, not quite so flowery, delicate but at the same time exhibits a buttery depth of flavor that whispers "Oolong, 2nd steep!" Too, as this tea cools in the cup it exhibits quite an unfolding array of nuances. Very interesting. I've tasted 1st flush Assams that had Darjeeling-like qualities...now I have another cross-over. A definite keeper in my book! The quality and freshness of SpecialTeas never ceases to amaze. ![]() |
