Nose: more autunm leaves than malt, some floral, a butterscotch note. Cup: Sweet, light bodied, honey and butter, long zippy finish. 3.5 stars. To the reader looking for Doomni Gold Rain, I first got it at Special Teas probably ten years ago or more, bought it for years as the finest BOP available, then the price shot way up. I'm guessing they decided it was no longer a good value and quit carrying it. Ask them. Also try #225 Mokalbari BOP, best I've had since.

3 stars on absolute scale, would be less on the value scale. No, it is not bad, just rather unremarkable. Not very strong. You might like it if you like Harmutty and such. I guess it was this name Golden Tips, it made me expect something like Golden Rain - which is how they describe pure "broken" tips. (Doomny [sp.?] estate Golden Rain is a really special treat, not available through Special Teas yet... It is more expensive of course.) Not recommended. And we do miss Orangajuli! Vlad

I really wanted to like this tea, and it was OK, but nothing special. It seemed one-dimensional and kind of bland. I have a notion that this tea is meant for milk-and-sugar (I use neither).

Reviewer: Tim In Jersey,
My favorite choice so far in a quest for flowery, deeply satisfying all-day tea...

Reviewer: Bob H.,
This is by far the best Assam I have tasted, a superb breakfast tea. I really like it with milk and a little sugar. It is very full bodied with honey notes. Keep this one in stock!!

Reviewer: H.S. Hager,
This tea is as complex as raga, as exotic as a sitar solo. A real thinking person's tea! Highly recommended!

Reviewer: Derek,
There are possibly better Assam teas... but after 20 years of looking, I haven't found them!
