This tea has a lot of the aroma and flavor I know from a good Darjeelings but it has these really nice additional notes. They call it ripe pear in the description, I guess that’s what it is. It makes this tea very interesting and every sip I seem to find something a little different. GREAT tea at a very reasonable price. I will be back for more that’s for sure. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Reviewer: martin , otway , frankfort ,IL December 07, 2009 Everytime I have this tea I am in awe of the delicate, yet complex flavors of jt. Best tea I have tried for the price. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Reviewer: P. Sout, Sommerville, MA February 23, 2009 This tea is one of the best bargains you will find in a high quality Himalayan. It's very similar to a second flush darjeeling, but richer; it's definitely a tea that stands on its own. It has a natural sweetness with a ripe fruit character and a lingering, satisfying aftertaste. I really enjoy it as a nice late afternoon pick-me-up. As much as I've always liked second flush darjeelings, I find myself preferring Himalayan Tips more and more these days. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Reviewer: Michael , Meadors , North Little Rock ,AR December 16, 2008 This tea is a little known gem for those of us who don't always want a Darjeeling for a light, complex afternoon tea. Having said that, this tea is darker than but closest to a 2nd Flush Darjeeling, and I would compare it to Sikkim teas as well, though it is quite different from both of these. I recommend that you brew this at 190-200 degrees at the specified time, as this will yield more of a citrus/apricot flavor which finishes with more floral notes. Light vegetal and nutty notes are present, with some degree of astringency, but not bad at all. I have to say that this is one of the more enjoyable afternoon teas I have ordered from SpecialTeas and I would recommend it to the everyday drinker. It's a great deal too! ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Reviewer: A tea Drinker, Arlington ,MA April 15, 2008 I ordered this as a sample, and drank the whole package within days. I am normally an Assam fan, and have never particularly liked Darjeeling. I was looking for a late evening tea as I was finding even my favorite Assam a little heavy for 10pm. This tea startled me by combining a mostly Assam flavor with a recognizable hint of Darjeeling which softens, lightens and adds complexity. Had it been described to me this way, I would have predicted not liking it but it turned out to be the perfect end of day tea. It has a delicate flavor and a very clean finish. I just ordered a pound. ![]() |
