This is the first time I write a review after being a specialteas customer for a few years now, that's how much I like this tea. For me it's a perfect balance between price and flavor. I love China blacks. I've tried a few of the more expensive ones on here (I really enjoy the 510 China Golden Monkey) but this one, for me, is a great value for the flavor.

Review update: Since sampling China Yunnan Imperial that I thought was a mistakened sample of Golden Monkey I ordered more Yunnan Imperial. The 1/4 lb package I ordered did have a different character (so I still wonder if the sample was Golden Monkey.) Upon opening the package I was greeted with an aroma that can be described as citrus-like. I brewed the tea for 3 minutes and sweetened it with honey. The liquor flavor reminded me of a nice 2nd flush Darjeeling only but with brighter tones. Overall this was an excellent tea and worthy of a 5-star rating. I wasn't sure what to expect after trying the sample but I was pleasantly suprised!

I just finished drinking a cup of China Yunnan Imperial which I received as a free sample with my last order. The flavor was delicious and tasted exactly like Golden Monkey! I'm wondering if Golden Monkey was mistakenly placed inside the packet? Since I've never sampled a Yunnan tea before I'm not sure what it's supposed to taste like.

This is a good tea. The flavor is rich, hearty, and distinctive -- sort of woody-mapley. Having finished samples of this and the Royal Golden Yunnan, I prefer this one. A good alternative breakfast tea, one I will order in the future.

If you are looking for an everyday black tea, that you don't have to add milk or sugar to, at a good price - this is the tea. This is an exceptional tea. In my opinion better then the Assams, Ceylons and Keemuns in this price range. Very good self standing. The site's description of the tea is right on.

Rich and maple-y with a touch of spice. I love this one!
