Lovely green tea. Smooth and nicely vegetal, without being grassy.

Sweet, *slightly* vegetal aroma. Somewhat woody, with a hint of fruit (think apricot). I much prefer this to any Pi Lo Chun, as I find the latter *very* sensitive to preparation, and too vegetal for my palate. It's similar to China White Monkey King (545), but subtler, and richer. Then again, at the recommended 2 heaping tsp/cup, this tea *is* almost twice the price. But worth it.

Somewhat reminiscent of the #527 Pi Lo Chun: refined, complex and rather subtle. #538 is more floral and less fruity, and has a decidedly sweet finish. If you're looking for garishly strong vegetal flavors go elsewhere, but if you want a tea worth paying attention to, I'd highly recommend giving #538 a try.

This excellent, potent green tea looks and tastes more like an oolong, with notes of chocolate, nuts, and smoke. The second infusion is even better than the first. Its nutty aftertaste lingers for several minutes.

Reviewer: Jeff Alexander,
This is my favorite green tea. The fragrance from a newly opened bag is marvelous. Smooth, yet flavorful, and if some one doesn't like this one, its because they simply don't like green teas of any type!

Reviewer: Dr D,
This tea brews an ideal afternoon cup. It's unpretentious but surprisingly complex--a bit fruitier than some China greens I've tasted, with lots of other flavor elements as well and a lovely sweet finish. Jeff is right; if you don't like this you simply don't like green tea.
