At the recommended 180 degrees, 6 oz, 2 min steeping this tea tastes like bitter spinich. Knocked down to 140 and with a tbsp instead, it's a nice cup with far reduced bitterness (I always use a small amount of turbinado sugar too). There's a hint of Gyokuro (700) like sea musk, but it's far lighter in taste. Given the near doubling of the quantity required Gyokuro is probably not three times the price -- maybe double, and is much more interesting. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Reviewer: A tea Drinker, ithaca ,NY December 05, 2007 I find this to be a bit more complex than some other green teas I've tried. I enjoy the delicate flavor immensely. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Reviewer: Joshua , Carter , Norfolk ,NE March 22, 2007 A sweet and vegetal cup. Very satisfying. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Reviewer: ANGELIA , PERRIN , BRIDGEPORT ,CT September 10, 2006 This is a wonderful green tea to drink. It has a slightly vegetal taste like a Japan green but the flavor and taste is subtle and sweet. That fact that it is organic makes it even better. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Reviewer: A tea Drinker, Pittsburgh ,PA May 10, 2006 More vegetal and "green tea"-ish than some of the other China greens (eg 527 or 535). Sweetish flavor with a bit of a tang to it; I don't pick up a lot of flavor complexity, but it's pleasant enough. My best cup came from steeping at slightly lower temp for slightly longer than the package recommendation (160-ish for 2:30). By the way, "bright green" must mean something special to Specialteas descriptions, my cups were greenish-yellow, not green, and certainly not bright green! :) ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Reviewer: Neal Wesley Williams, Without a doubt, hands-down, this is the best organic green tea I've ever tasted. Its flavor is rich and sweet, never bitter.. almost nourishing -- in short, it's everything I'd want in a green tea. The fact that it's organic makes the entire experience even better. I give it an extremely high recommendation! ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Reviewer: Diane Olsen, This tea is one of my absolute favorites! It's subtle, smooth, and sweet. Just wonderful..And it appears to be a favorite of those I serve it to also. Highly recommended. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Reviewer: Steve, This everyday tea has leaves as green as any gyokuro, with a delicate greenish infusion and a taste that's pleasantly vegetal. Like many Chinese greens, there's a noticeable tinge from when the leaves were pan-fired to stop oxidation. Nice, full leaves with a generous amount of buds. This is perhaps best as a quencher with snacks, but very decent on its own. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Reviewer: Sonny, This tea, more than any other I've tried, is extremely sensitive to infusion temperatures. Thin, deep green leaves infuse into a subtly sweet, delicately grassy aroma and taste. While SpecialTeas suggests a 180º, you will find that 140º for two or so minutes makes for a sweeter taste. ![]() |
