Needless to say, upon doing so I'm not a fan. One of the reviewers commented that the Pu Erh reminded them of a stable. Incredibly accurate. I find the aroma and taste of wet straw to be too much of a distraction to overcome when attempting to enjoy this tea. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Reviewer: Vincent , Sapone , Ithaca ,NY February 14, 2008 I love Pu-Erh and this is a good example of a loose leaf pu-erh. The darkness and body of the tea depends on how much you use and how long you steep. This has an earthy-chocolate flavor with a great subtle smokiness. Typically the richer and more aged versions come in compressed forms. I can't wait to try the Tuo Cha from Special Teas. If you like coffee and you like rich and bold flavors you should like this tea. If you like soft and subtle teas then this may not be for you. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Reviewer: PETER D , BETHKE , CHARLOTTESVILLE ,VA February 04, 2008 This is a very strong tasting tea -- it gives quite a jolt and leaves me a bit "spacey" if consumed on an empty stomach. The smell is a bit off-putting until you get used to it, "earthy" is a bit kind - I'd say more "wet dog", or at least that's the first thing that came to mind. However, this tea does grow on you (like moss perhaps :). It's become my current favorite, replacing milder Greens. The health benefits, if true, are a nice bonus. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Reviewer: patrick , callaway , north richland hills ,TX February 02, 2008 not being a tea expert, i can only say that this stuff must be an acquired taste. it is very, very musky and earthy - almost muddy. i'll drink it for medicinal value and little else. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Reviewer: PAUL M , SEXTON , Brevard, NC August 17, 2007 I like Pu Erh, especially this one, but I find I need a little more "bite" than it usually has: it tastes rather like wild water from a mossy, leaf filled spring. Nowadays I generally mix with some strong Assam and guzzle it all day, with or without milk as the mood strikes me. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Reviewer: Kathleen, Keane, Tigard,OR October 29, 2006 I am giving this tea 5 stars for its health benefits, not taste. It is very strong and smells terrible, but you do get somewhat use to it. I sometimes mix it with a flavored black or add a piece of cinnamon stick. Drinking China Pu Erh Bold Leaf every day for a year lowered our cholestrol. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Reviewer: Linda, Meyer, Lewiston,MN October 15, 2006 I have been drinking this tea for several years now so obviously I love it. But I'm surprised that I haven't seen mentioned in the reviews how good this tea is on ice. The bold flavor refuses to be diluted by the ice and the beautiful amber color is very pleasing when served in a clear glass. If you're looking for the flavor of an instant ice tea, this is not the one for you.If you want a strong, flavorful brew, then this is an excellent choice. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Reviewer: jason , hoffman , norton ,OH December 31, 2005 My first Pu Erh ever. It smells like the forest floor after a long rainy season. VERY earthy, very dark. It is very full-bodied, and tastes much better with a cream...I used flavored Irish Creme. Not my favorite, by far, but could be good for a mornign jolt. ![]() |
