I bought 1 pound of this tea last October. I absolutely love it! It is the best green tea I have ever tried. It is very earthy tasting and the aroma is magnificent! I am ordering another pound today and cant wait until it arrives!

This is really my first experience with a green tea, outside of some tea bags from Mighty Leaf (and yes, their teas are fine. No complaints there.) Really, this has been eye-opening. I saved it to use with my new Iwachu iron pot, and I am just in awe of the experience. It is truly nothing like the experience of drinking a black tea. "Grassy" seems like a horrible decriptive term for something which is actually quite enjoyable to drink, but there IS something grassy about it, in a very good way. I understand why some drinkers say they use this when feeling meditative. It does call forth strong images of a very peaceful, green field. This is like drinking high-end wine, where the tannins really are able to conjure forth a sense of what the field was like that the grapes grew in. Well, I'm waxing pastoral here, so I'll leave it at that!

An excellent, extremely fresh green tea. If you're used to the more delicate China greens, this might be too grassy and intense for you. Personally I like both types, depending upon my mood, and when I want something vegetal, this is the only tea I drink. When brewed properly, this stuff is fantastic, but a warning: be very careful not to overbrew, as it does not take it well. Personally, I think even 1 minute is too long. 45 seconds is just about perfect. Bright and vegetal. Much more and this stuff will end up tasting like someone's lawn clippings.

This Gyokuro is remarkably different than any green tea in Special Teas sample pack. First, it doesn't look like the photo -- the tea is a blue-green color. The aroma straight from the bag is absolutely amazing. I love smelling this tea! It reminds me more of the sea than of vegetation -- seafunk, seawead, but better. The taste is deeper and far less bright than any other green tea I've tried (perhaps 10). I wish the taste was stronger, as it's obviously an expensive tea and brewing even 25% stronger than recommended (which I do) is painful. However, you actually can get a 2nd cup from the same leaves, and a third if you want, albeit with increasing bitterness (which I always address with a small amount of turbinado sugar, which I feel complements this tea perfectly). It's a must try -- a benchmark to be sure. Cover those bushes, stress those plants, drink this tea.

This tea is so fragrant! It not only tastes lovely, but is like aroma therapy, too! I highly recommend. Heed the caution, not to use water that is too hot. I confess to using Florida Cane Crystals, but it really enhances my experience with this tea. It is comfort tea, due to the combination of great palette and aroma. So fresh! Lynne

Gyokuro truly is a "Jewel Dew". Simply put, it is the Hope Diamond of green teas! Extraordinary!

This outstanding tea yields a light green liquor, and has a subtlely vegetal, "green" taste that's almost creamy. Extremely refreshing. (Steep at no more than 140 degrees Fahrenheit, or the leaves will become bitter.)

Reviewer: Renee,
My very first impression was that it was very vegetal and did not drink a second cup. But it stayed on my mind and I even had a dream about it, so the next morning I tried it again, using a little cooler water and all I can say is - it was great. Very smooth, refreshingly grassy. Remains one of my favourite morning drinks!

Reviewer: SF tea drinker,
My first impression of this tea was that it looked, smelled and tasted like seaweed. I could not even finish a cup of it or imagine that it was actually tea. I gave myself a week to recover and now am trying again would say that as long as you are able to cast aside your expectations of what tea is supposed to taste like (and if you like seaweed!), it can be enjoyed.
