807 East Friesian Broken Blend [HOME] All Customer ReviewsAverage Customer Review: Write an online review and share your thoughts with other customers. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Reviewer: dwylan, gearhart, council bluffs,IA March 13, 2009 A pleasant tea for relaxing after a busy day. I use less than a heaping teaspoon per cup and still find it full bodied with mild clean taste. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Reviewer: Vladislav , Speransky , Germantown ,MD February 28, 2009 If you tried East Friesian in the past - 3 or more years ago - and were unimpressed, try it again now. I am convinced the recipe has changed. Now in addition to the strength, there is also finesse and flavor! Malty enough without being too much so. I would describe this tea like a strong and very flavorful Assam. Now that Hajua is no longer available, East Friesian has become our everyday breakfast tea. I just received (2/28/09) another 2 lb bag re-order and am happy to report that this batch is as good as the others we've been getting over the last couple of years. #266 Meleng of course remains our reigning favorite in this category (and all-around too, since we are Assam lovers), but at less than a third of the price, East Friesian holds its own. Don't overbrew it and, like with all broken leaf Assams, don't put too much in the pot. And do yourself a favor, get yourself a Bodum Chambord teapot for this and similar teas. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Reviewer: Stuart , George , Buena Vista ,VA January 07, 2009 Wow! This is an awesome tea, I drink it all day at work (6-8 cups, hey I'm Aussie/English, its in the blood). It is a strong tea but I don't find it overpowering or bitter (I only add a little milk). Very highly recommended. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Reviewer: A tea Drinker, Montreal, QC October 16, 2008 I ordered this after seeing Irish Breakfast was not available. I'm very impressed. This tea is bold, flavorful, and perfect for the morning to help wake me up. It is nice with a bit of sugar. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Reviewer: Joshua , Steele , New York City, ny March 30, 2007 Jet Fuel for my office of displaced Londoners . . . and this displaced San Franciscan. Love it . . . ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Reviewer: Andrew , Layton , Salem ,MO January 19, 2007 Lots of flavor and plenty of room for sweetener make East Friesian my favorite blend for iced tea. The accessible (and perhaps more familiar) flavor also makes it a good starting point for the loose-leaf beginner. Good stuff! ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Reviewer: A tea Drinker, USA, US October 22, 2006 This tea is wonderful. My very favorite tea. It is full bodied and dark red/brown. When you get tired of flavored teas and want a cup of plain true tea. This is the one. Absolutely delicious. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Reviewer: Melissa , Leone , Everett ,WA December 24, 2005 I spent some time in East Friesland - Jever, to be more precise. The tea that we usually drank there was more like the Sunday Blend from here, but perhaps that was just the family I stayed with. It is true that they drink tea ALL OF THE TIME! Morning, noon and night. It's just so blustery and cold all of the time...even in summer (kind of like the Pacific NW USA). You need something warm to take the edge off. As for the tea: I do like this blend as a breakfast tea. It is VERY bold and definitely needs some sugar, for my tastes. Very much like any traditional Irish morning blend. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Reviewer: Joseph , Stein , Santa Rosa ,CA August 10, 2005 Too strong and bitter for my tastes. Lacks elegance. However, if you want a powerful black tea, this is your cuppa. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Reviewer: Jill, I highly recommend this hearty, full-bodied, deliciously satisfying tea! I especially enjoy it in the morning, with half and half and Splenda (my favorite sweetener). Although I personally can't stand the taste of coffee, I think this tea would be something many coffee drinkers would enjoy, as it has real "substance" and flavor to it. ![]() |
