Definitely for the bergamot lover, this tea is heavy with the scent in the bag, but oddly not so much in the cup. But, hang on to your hat when you take a sip. By the time the brew reaches drinking temp the bergamot flavor is almost overwhelming. Relatively smooth with a slight bitter edge that could be the ample bergamot or the result of over brewing a finicky tea. Too much for my taste but if you REALLY like bergamot this may be your poison.

I enjoy the basic Earl Grey. This one is over the top and very rich. I will always want to order this one.

Just didn't care for it much. Seems too intense...had that old tea flavor thing going, like the cup has been standing there for a few hours. Which it did not. May be good for mixing with other lighter teas.

I had always started my morning with a strongly brewed mug of Republic of Tea's "Earl Greyer" adding hot milk and stevia. It has not been satisfactory of late so I decided to sample the 822 and the 825. I am committing to the 822 as my new morning tea! It is rich and flavorful. I am drinking it without milk or sweetener. Simply excellent Earl Grey tea!

I'll admit it right now; I'm an Earl Grey FIEND. I've been searching for my match for at least 2 years, and I believe I've found it in the Royal. For a long time, Stash's Double Bergamot Earl Grey held my top spot because of its sheer power. But the Royal is simply more balanced and of better quality. First of all, before brewing, the tea is appealing, the cornflowers shockingly blue against the dark tea. The aroma, citrusy and strongly floral. The brew itself is more than I had hoped for an in-your-face Earl Grey. Lots of bergamot paired with a black tea that's strong enough to still be noticable. I'm also a fan of floral teas so the cornflower really did it for me. I absolutely love this tea. Fantastic. I'm sure it's too strongly flavored/scented for many people, but if you're searching for a powerful, unique Earl Grey I definitely recommend this blend. Note: I take my tea with nothing added, if that makes any difference.

This is just the Earl Grey I was looking for. So many Earl Greys are weak or floral. This one is neither, by a long shot. It has an almost nutty nose to it, but that flavor does not come through when I drink it. It is very smooth going down. It is not for the faint of heart, though, that is for sure. You should probably be an Earl Grey freak to enjoy this tea.

Another fantastic blend of Earl Grey. I prefer the White Tip Earl Grey over this, but the Royal has kind of a kick to it that I occasionally need after a long day.

I found the bergamot flavor much too overpowering. I thought more bergagmot would be better, but discovered that a milder bergamot is much more to my liking. I found the the White Tip Earl Grey to be an excellent alternative to the much stronger flavored Earl Grey Royal.

Ahhh, a nice desert feel for those who like a little sweetness. Not only is this leaf just nice to look at with all the colors but it’s also a pleasure to drink for my afternoon tea time. My flair: for every 6-8 oz teacup add 2 Hershey’s Kisses. It compliments the Vanilla and Creme very well.

I love this one! Tangy and tongue tingling. Leaves a clean, fresh sensation. I add milk or cream (since my tummy tends to be upset by tannins) and a little sugar.

This Royal is the best Early Grey I have ever tasted. Highly-highly recommended. I am on my 8th or 10th pound of it. I use about 4 pounds a year.

We've tried over a dozen Earl Greys from specialty tea shops but everyone in the office agrees that this Earl Grey is the best. Nice and flavourful.

Reviewer: Carissa Baltimore,
WHOOOOO!! Man this tea is powerful!! The bergamot flavor is very overpowering. As an earl grey fan, I should probably stick to basic teas and not get the "superpowered" version. Way too strong for me.

Reviewer: Melanie Omstead,
Interesting, but almost overpowering with the bergamot, but the base tea IS better than the Fine Earl Grey. The aroma when brewing and in the cup is amazing. My whole kitchen was a garden of bergamot. Cup colour is good/average.

Reviewer: Diane Tebault,
I guess I'm an Earl Grey/bergamot nut as I LOVED this one! I did notice the flavor faded a bit by the end of the 1/2 lb bag. It needs to be stored airtight I guess.

Reviewer: Charles Gartland,
This is great tea, although I'm still partial to the Earl Grey de la Creme--the added vanilla makes for a richer, smoother drinking experience.

Reviewer: elaine,
I totally agree with Charles Gartland's comments.
