Assam
Assams are typically rich, hearty, full-bodied teas and make a sturdy, satisfying cup, ranging in color from golden amber to deep, copper red. The better varieties have the sought-after malty aroma, but can also carry a honey fragrance. Assams are excellent morning teas that will often be enhanced by the addition of a splash of milk.
There are two main grades of loose leaf Assams:
Full leaf and broken leaf.
Assam Full leaf
Leaf teas with a full flavored taste. Dark, golden infusion. Stimulating morning teas. Best qualities can be enjoyed both with and without milk.
Assam Broken leaf
Usually strong with malty notes; dark infusion. Rich, stimulating morning teas. Good with meals.
