Japan Green Tea
Buddhist Monks first brought the tea plant to Japan from China in the ninth century. They had realized that tea could sharpen their alertness while helping them to maintain a sense of calm during meditation. It later gained popularity as a social drink among the aristocracy and went on to become the beverage of choice in all of Japan. Today, the same care and appreciation goes into the cultivation and enjoyment of tea as in other areas of Japanese art and culture. Almost all tea produced in Japan is green.
