The Simplex teakettles are all hand-made in a small Copper manufactory in Birmingham, England. The company was founded in 1903 with the mission statement, "to manufacture by hand, the highest quality kettles, consistently and without doubt produce the finest craftsmanship available". In pursuit of this mission, each kettle is still built to the same standard as in 1903 with but a few changes to comply with current safety and health requirements. All models have a patented whistling device built into them.
Today, Simplex still uses some of the machinery that was developed by the founders almost 100 years ago, since it is not replaceable by modern equipment. Each kettle must pass a rigorous 20 step inspection before it is allowed to be shipped.
