Yixing Teapots have long been considered the best tea-brewing vessels in the world for fine tea. Eagerly collected by tea connoisseurs, these classic or contemporary-style teapots have a fascinating history. Known as the "pottery capital of China", Yixing is located 120 miles southwest of Shanghai. Its reputation for producing exquisite teapots dates back to the Ming Dynasty (1368-1644). Each piece is shaped by hand, using the artist's form and completed on a potter's wheel. Every Yixing teapot in our collection bears a chop mark - the "signature" of the artist, and a reminder of the teapot's high quality and craftsmanship. All of our Yixing teapots come in beautiful silk-covered gift boxes, with detailed descriptions and are lead free and FDA approved. Leaving the pots unglazed allows the minerals in the treasured clay to enhance the flavor of the tea. With use, Yixing teapots absorb the character of the tea and develop a rich patina enhancing the aroma of the tea.
