Yixing Teapots have long been considered the best vessels in the world for brewing fine tea. Eagerly collected by tea connoisseurs, classic and contemporary-style Yixing teapots have a fascinating history. Yixing, the "pottery capital of China", is located 120 miles southwest of Shanghai. Its reputation for producing exquisite teapots dates back to the Ming Dynasty (1368-1644). Each teapot in our collection bears a chop mark - the 'signature' of the artist, and a reminder of the teapot's high quality and craftsmanship.
Our Yixing teapots come in silk-covered gift boxes with detailed descriptions and are lead free and FDA approved. Each piece is shaped by hand, using the artist's form and completed on a potter's wheel. Leaving the pots unglazed allows the minerals in the treasured "zisha" (purple clay) to enhance the brew. With each use, the pot absorbs the character of the tea and develops a rich patina, enhancing the flavor of the tea.
